Finance

I. Cultivation Target

The major aims to cultivate advance applied financial talents who can meet the needs of economic and social development, develop comprehensively in moral, intellectual, physical and aesthetic aspects, master solid theoretical theories of economy and finance, know well about principles of finance-related specialties, maintain good communication capacity and social adaptability, and apply skillfully English and modern technical means to undertake financial practice such as banking, insurance, security investment and corporate wealth management. Upon graduation, students can serve in banking, securities, insurance and industrial and commercial enterprises. Graduates are of relatively high adaptability and in social needs.

II. Cultivation Specification Requirement

1. Knowledge Structure

1) Basic knowledge: including the basic knowledge in such areas as humane social science and natural sciences to promote the students’ knowledge level of basic education.

2) Professional basic knowledge: students are required to master systematically the basic theories and knowledge of such disciplines as management science and economics, know well about the Chinese and foreign principles, policies and regulations relating to the enterprise management and master the theory and knowledge of basic courses relating to the finance discipline of undergraduates.

3) Professional knowledge: students are required to master the middle and high-level professional courses of finance, know well about the Chinese regulations and rules for finance, skillfully apply the financial theory and knowledge to resolve practical problems of finance and understand the frontier theories and developments of the discipline.

2. Capacity Requirement:
Upon completing the undergraduate program, the graduates shall achieve the capability in the following aspects:

1) Master the basic theories and knowledge of economics and finance and understand their frontier status and development;

2) Know well about Chinese economic and financial policies and laws and international practices and rules;

3) Maintain such capacities as expressing orally and in writing, computer application, independent learning, and analyzing and resolving problems;

4) Maintain the capacity to undertake such actual work as banking, insurance, security investment, foreign exchange and enterprise investment and financing; and

5) Maintain the ability of applying at least one foreign language and reading professional books and journals of finance.

3. Quality Requirement

1) Political: love the socialist motherland, support the basic route of CPC, know about the basic principles of Marxism, Leninism, Mao Zedong thoughts, Deng Xiaoping’s theory and others and maintain good ideological morality.

2) Cultural: skillfully master the Chinese and foreign principles, policies and regulations relating to the financial management, maintain solid basic theories and knowledge of economy and finance, skillfully apply the financial skills, and possess relatively high English competence and capacity of computer operating.

3) Physical and Mental: keep physically and mentally well, maintain the multi-culture inclusive sense and broad international vision and work practically, endure hardship, refuse to be affected by vanity, offer as a tribute, keep diligent and pursue excellence.

4) Occupational ethics: maintain such basic ethic quality as devotion, honest and trustful, objective and just, and possess the professional ethic quality of stressing on discretion in conduct and insisting on principle and relatively strong management philosophy and sense of responsibility as a financial worker.

5) Academic: industrious in thinking, good at studying intensively, highly interested in bringing forth the new through the old, full of the spirit to explore and desire to resolve problems, and accomplished academically.

Length of Schooling: four years

Degree: Bachelor of Economics

Major courses: micro economics, macro economics, monetary banking, principles of management science, principles of accounting, management information system, financial accounting, financial management science, applied statistics, marketing, strategic management, commercial law, business communication, business English, investment principles, international finance, financial market and institutions, fixed income security analysis, derivative instrument, risk management and insurance, etc.

V. Curriculum Setup, Structure Ratio ad Explanation

Adhere to the international standard and give consideration to the characteristics of its own, apply the curriculum setup principle of bilingual teaching and take the orientation of training advance applied financial management talents for banks, insurance companies, securities companies and other financial institutions.
